The day I stopped reusing passwords on work accounts

Back in 2022 I was managing bids for a big commercial job in Denver and got an email that looked like it came from my supplier about a price update. I clicked the link and put in my login like an idiot. Next thing I know, someone tried to wire $14,000 out of our business account using my saved credentials. My bank caught it but it took three days to sort out. Before that I used the same password for everything because I figured no one would bother with a small painting contractor. Now I use a password manager and every single work account has a different random password. Took me an afternoon to set up but that was nothing compared to the headache I almost had. Has anyone else had a close call like that where your gut told you it was fine but it almost cost you?

@sullivan.abby you're acting like somebody died. It's a close call sure but the bank caught it and you got your money back. Passwords are annoying to manage but this whole "one password ruins your life" thing gets blown way out of proportion. Your password manager can get hacked too and then where are you? I still use the same password for half my stuff and I've been fine for years. Not saying it's smart but let's not pretend every close call is a catastrophe.
