That moment I realized I was letting my router get cooked by my modem's heat vent

My internet kept dropping every afternoon till I pulled both out of the cabinet and felt how hot the modem was blowing right on the router's intake. Has anyone else had their setup messed up by heat from other gear stacking too close?

Did you try putting something between them so the hot air has room to move?

Actually had a similar thing happen but with my external hard drive sitting on top of the router... started getting corrupt files and couldn't figure out why till I touched the drive and almost burned my fingers. Heat is just a silent killer for electronics man. Moved everything to different shelves with those little stick-on rubber feet for airflow and it's been fine since. Also noticed my old Xbox used to get warm near the cable box so I just keep a small gap between everything now. Really makes you think about all the heat buildup in entertainment centers nobody talks about.
