Coffee shop wifi in Austin made me stop using public networks for banking

Watched someone pull a pineapple device out of their backpack at Epoch Coffee last week and that's when I realized my bank login on the free wifi was a terrible idea, does anyone actually trust cafe hotspots anymore?

Yeah I saw a similar post on Reddit about someone getting their Venmo drained at a Starbucks in Dallas. Not worth the risk for banking anymore.

Right? That Starbucks story freaked me out too. I saw a follow-up where the guy said they cloned his card from the payment terminal, and Venmo/s bank took WEEKS to give his money back. Makes you wonder how many other places have those skimmers or fake readers. That's why I only use my phone to pay now, at least the tokens expire.
