Skeptical about that hotel clerk in Boise who said she'd 'take care of' my $189 room charge, and wow, she actually did
I figured I'd never see that refund and had already started a chargeback, but the money hit my card in 5 days with a little note from her. On the flip side, my little brother swears the 'we'll call you right back' line is always a brush-off, so who's the real one here?

Had a similar thing with a rental car place in Tucson a few years back. They said they'd refund the $75 cleaning fee after I dropped it off, and I laughed about it the whole drive home. About a week later the credit showed up on my statement, no note or anything, just the money. So I guess some of these places actually do what they say, but it really seems like it depends on who's working that day.
