Pro tip: I finally got a refund from a big box store by asking for a 'store credit adjustment' instead of a return.
After the manager in Springfield told me my 90-day return window was up by 2 days, I asked if they could do a store credit adjustment for the $47 item, and they processed it in 5 minutes, no questions asked.

Sometimes just asking the right way makes all the difference. I got a refund on an old lawnmower part by calling it a warranty review instead of a return. The wording can change their whole process.
