My old writing teacher said cut the first paragraph of everything and I finally tried it on a 12 page story
She said it back in 2019 at a workshop in Ann Arbor and I blew her off, but last week I deleted the opening scene of a story I was stuck on and the real start showed up on page 2, so now I'm wondering if anyone else writes a whole warmup scene just to find the actual prompt.
