I used to hoard 500 writing prompts in a spreadsheet, now I just keep 12 on index cards taped above my desk
Back in 2021 I had this monster Google Sheet with 512 prompts sorted by genre and mood, and I would scroll it for 20 minutes and never actually write anything. Then in March I got fed up, picked my 12 favorites, wrote them on index cards, and taped them to the wall by my monitor so I have to stare at them every day. Has anyone else cut their prompt list way down like this, and did it help you actually finish drafts or did you just get sick of seeing the same 12?
