Realized I was rigging my own slings wrong for 8 months

Was setting up a 12 ton pick on a job site in Tulsa last Tuesday. My foreman walked over and asked why I was choking the load at the wrong angle. He pointed out I was putting the shackle pin through the loop instead of the body. Had to redo the whole thing while he watched. Has anyone else had that moment where you think you know something and then realize you've been doing it backwards?

Man that's rough. Eight months is a long time to be doing it wrong without anyone saying something sooner. Your foreman must have been watching you for a while before he finally spoke up. At least you caught it before something bad happened with that 12 ton pick. Learning that kind of stuff on the job is how you remember it forever though.

Nah it was 12 ton but the pick was rated for way less than that actually.
