Bought a cheap load chart app that was off by 300 pounds on a 50-ton lift.
I was setting up for a pick last week and the app said we were good, but my gut said to check the paper chart. The app was wrong, and we had to stop everything to re-rig, which wasted about two hours of crew time. Has anyone found a digital chart they actually trust, or is paper still the only safe bet?

I downloaded that exact same app three years ago because it was only five bucks. Used it for a month before I caught a 500 pound error on a smaller lift. I was all in on digital until that moment. Now my paper chart stays in the cab, and I only use apps for a quick double check. That gut feeling you had is worth listening to every single time.

Trust the app more than my gut, honestly. It keeps me from rounding up weights and cheating myself.

That's a huge difference to catch, good on you. But a paper chart in the cab can get lost or rained on just as easy. Maybe keep a backup photo on your phone too.
