Unpopular opinion: I used to think the salon in the new Portland mall was just for show
I was at the Bridgeport Village mall last weekend and walked past that big, fancy salon near the food court. You know the one, with the huge windows and all the plants. I always figured it was just for rich ladies getting quick blowouts between shopping trips. But I stopped to watch for a minute because they had a sign up about a free 15 minute scalp analysis. The stylist working the booth, her name was Chloe, she was actually explaining the whole process to a client in real detail. She was talking about oil production, follicle health, and even recommended a specific sulfate free shampoo based on what she saw. It wasn't just a sales pitch. It made me realize these mall spots might actually be serious about hair health, not just a quick style. They're meeting people where they are, which is smart. Has anyone else worked in or visited a high traffic location like that and been surprised by the service quality?

Wow, that reminds me of the time I got a fantastic eyebrow shaping at a kiosk in the airport! It was way more careful and detailed than I expected from a rush job spot. Sometimes those high traffic places really do have skilled people.

Nah, I've had the total opposite experience with those airport kiosks. Last time I tried one, the person was rushing so much they took off way too much hair. I walked away looking surprised for a week. I'd rather wait and go to my usual spot where they know my face.
