Rant: Why do people eat potato chips with ketchup like it's normal?

I used to just grab a bag of plain Lay's and call it a day, no weird dipping stuff. But then my buddy from Ohio started dipping his chips in ketchup back in 2019 at a party, and I thought he was kidding. He kept doing it every time we hung out, so I tried it once last summer just to prove him wrong. Now I actually get it, the sweet and salty thing kinda works for me on certain chips. Has anyone else had that one snack habit you thought was gross but ended up secretly liking?

...and that's exactly how I got hooked on dipping Ruffles in chocolate pudding. Tried it once at a friend's house after a dare, now I can't have a movie night without it. The crunch plus the creamy chocolate just hits different, you know?

Man 2019 feels like a whole different timeline honestly. I gotta ask though, your buddy from Ohio was pulling that ketchup move at a party where there was probably salsa and queso just sitting there? Like I respect trying new things but why not just go for the obvious dip first lol. Pudding on Ruffles is a step too far for me though, Ruffles are built for ridged chip dips not dessert stuff. I mean if you like it you like it but at some point we gotta ask if we're eating snacks or just messing with textures for the sake of it.
