Finally got my drone footage to map out a DIY patio project

I borrowed a friend's drone to try and plan a small patio in my yard. The first few flights were shaky and the pictures came out blurry. After watching some tutorials, I managed to get clear shots from above. Putting them together in a simple app really helped me visualize the space. Now I have a solid plan before I buy any materials.

My buddy Mark tried that last year with his deck. He crashed his drone into a tree on the third flight, broke a propeller. Once he got the hang of it though, he said the overhead grid he made was a game changer for figuring out where to put the fire pit. Totally saved him from buying pavers that wouldn't fit. What kind of patio are you thinking of building?

Honestly that drone method sounds like way more trouble than it's worth for a patio. All that tech just to avoid laying out a string grid or even some spray paint on the grass. My old measuring tape and a couple stakes have never steered me wrong, and they definitely won't crash into an oak tree. Sometimes the simple way is faster, you know? Feels like solving a problem that didn't really need to exist.
