That week in March when my basement flooded right before a family reunion
I came home to 3 inches of water after a record rainfall on a Tuesday, and the sump pump had died sometime overnight. My cousin's band was supposed to crash here for the reunion, so I spent 48 hours hauling out wet carpet and old boxes instead of prepping food. Has anyone else had a planned event completely derailed by a sudden home disaster?

Totally get that nightmare timing. Did you end up having to cancel the band staying over or did you somehow salvage it by moving everyone to a hotel or something? I'm asking because I had a similar thing happen with a birthday party once, and I found out the hard way that trying to clean up and host at the same time just makes everything worse. You end up with half your guests helping you shop vac while the other half are awkwardly standing around on wet tile. It's almost like the universe picks the absolute worst moment for these things to break. So yeah, what was the final call on the reunion plans?

Yeah but did they actually end up putting everyone up in a hotel or just cancel the whole thing? That's the part I'm really curious about cause like you said, trying to clean up mid-party is a disaster. I had a pipe burst once during Thanksgiving dinner and it was this insane scramble where everyone was just standing there with paper towels while I'm trying to find the shutoff valve. So idk, did the band end up getting a room somewhere or did the reunion just turn into a water damage recovery session?
