TIL adding a dash of dish soap to the water helps with tool cleanup

I was finishing up a slab yesterday and my tools were caked with dried concrete. An old timer on site told me to mix a little dish soap into my bucket of cleaning water. It broke down the residue way faster, and my trowels came out spotless without any scrubbing. Now I keep a small bottle in my gear bag for every job.

But won't dish soap leave a slippery film on your tools? Seems like that could make your grip unsafe for the next pour.

Have you actually tried it, @jenny_sullivan97, or just guessing about the film?
