Just finished a 4,000 sq ft slab solo for the first time

I was pouring a warehouse floor in Springfield and the other finisher called out sick. I had to handle the whole thing myself with just a ride-on trowel. I was shocked I kept the timing right and got a perfect finish across the whole area before it set up. Has anyone else had to tackle a job that big alone? What was your trick to keep the edges from getting away from you?

Damn, 4000 solo? How many hours did that take you? I did a 3000 foot garage floor once by myself, thought my arms were gonna fall off. Trick for me was hitting the edges first with a hand trowel before the ride-on even came off the truck.

Actually @walker.hayden, hitting edges first sounds like extra work. Just let the ride-on do its thing and clean up after, way faster in my book.

Saw a buddy try the clean-up-after method once. He ended up with a weird ridge line that looked awful, had to go back over the whole edge anyway. Made me think @walker.hayden might be onto something with doing them first.
