Dropped $180 on a used Allen 8ft straightedge and it caught a dip I would have walked right over
I picked up a used Allen 8ft straightedge off a guy in Boise for $180 about 2 years back. Before that I was checking flat with a 4ft level and my eye, which works until it doesn't. Last spring I was floating a driveway pour and the straightedge showed a low spot about 3/16 deep right in the wheel path, so I cut it and filled before it set up. Customer never would have said a word but it would have puddled every rain and I would have been back out there for free. What do you all use to check flat on bigger pours, or is everyone just running a 10ft magnesium?
