Blew a 20-foot slab last Thursday. My saw hit a rock and shifted 3 inches off the line.
Was finishing a driveway in Austin. Bull float looked perfect but the cut went crooked. Had to chip out a 4-foot section and patch it in before dark. Anyone ever try those diamond blades with the notch for rocks?

Man, that "saw hit a rock and shifted 3 inches off the line" part hit home for me. I've been there and it's the worst feeling when you hear that grinding noise and you just know the cut is toast. I've tried those notched diamond blades for rocks and honestly they help a little but they aren't magic. The real trick is to slow way down when you're near any aggregate or debris, and keep a super steady hand on the saw. Patching it in before dark sounds rough, hopefully the color match held up for you.

Slow way down when you're near anything rough is the best advice I've ever gotten for saw work. I always try to keep the blade speed steady and let the saw do the work instead of forcing it through the cut. Once you hear that grinding noise, there's really no going back and you just have to hope the patch covers it up well enough.
