That day I swapped 14 laptop screens and only messed up one ribbon cable
Last Tuesday was brutal but also weirdly satisfying. I had 14 laptops from a local school district come in for cracked screens, all Dell Latitude models but a mix of 7480 and 7490 so the bezels and cables were slightly different. I got through the first 10 fine, then on number 11 I zipped the locking tab on the eDP cable too fast and bent a pin. Had to order a replacement cable on my own dime since the district wanted a flat rate per unit. Cost me $12 plus shipping, but the real headache was waiting two days for it to arrive while the other three sat done. Made me wonder, how many of you techs actually test the screen before closing the lid fully? I usually do a quick power on but that one time I skipped it and paid for it. Any horror stories from a simple swap gone sideways?
