Showerthought: A PC that randomly ordered pizza online made me rethink default settings
I used to leave all BIOS settings on default because I thought it was safer. Then I fixed a computer that kept ordering pepperoni pizzas in the middle of the night. The user had some weird power management setting that woke the PC up and triggered a script. After adjusting the settings, the pizza orders stopped. Now I always double check BIOS configurations before calling a job done. It's wild how a simple setting can cause such a mess. Who needs a haunted house when you have a haunted computer?

Man, I always figured default was the safe bet too, didn't you? Then I had a client whose machine would spin its fans up to jet engine levels every single night at 3 AM for no clear reason. Took forever to track down some obscure setting buried in there. Stuff like that totally changed how I see it now. Default can just mean "weirdest possible behavior" sometimes, feels like tech gremlins hiding in the menus.

Totally get the "tech gremlins" thing. My old laptop used to do a full disk scan at 4 AM sharp because of some default maintenance setting. Took me months to find the toggle to shut it up.
