Laptop came in with a coffee spill, died on my bench, and I got it back with one trick
A guy walked into the shop on Tuesday with a Dell that his kid dunked a latte into, and it was fully dead, no lights, nothing. I tore it down, cleaned the board with alcohol, and it still would not post, so I figured the board was toast. Before I quoted him a new one, I pulled the RAM sticks and noticed a tiny bit of green gunk on one of the contacts that I missed the first time. Scraped it off with a pencil eraser, reseated everything, and it booted right up, saved him about $300. He picked it up that same afternoon and brought me a box of donuts the next day lol. Has anyone else had a spill job come back from the dead after a second look? What is your go to move when a board looks totally gone?
