Bought a $140 thermal camera attachment to find a draft, turns out my windows are fine
Last month I got one of those phone thermal cameras to hunt down a cold spot in my office. Spent a full Saturday scanning every wall and outlet, thinking my ancient AC unit was leaking somewhere. Turns out the cold spot was just the metal door frame conducting outdoor temps. At least now I use it to check if my server rack is overheating, so it wasn't a total loss. Has anyone else bought specialized gear for one job and ended up using it for something completely different?
