My grandpa rode the same bus route for 31 years and never once checked the schedule
My grandpa took the 14 Halsted in Chicago every workday from 1962 until he retired, and he told me last month he never looked at a schedule once. He just walked out his door at 6:40 and the bus showed up, like the city owed him that. Now I stand at my stop in Denver refreshing an app that updates every 30 seconds and the bus still lies to me. I keep thinking about how he trusted the route and I trust a screen, and I'm not sure I got the better deal. Did your parents or grandparents have a route they just knew by heart like that?
