Finally figured out why my train seat always felt reclined when it wasn't

I ride the 7:42 into Union Station every weekday and for about 6 months I kept pushing back on the seat lever thinking it was stuck. Turns out the cushion itself was just worn down on one side from years of passengers, so my posture was tilting without the backrest moving at all. A guy across the aisle pointed it out when he saw me struggling and said 'your hips are doing all the work, not the seat.' Swapped to a different car and suddenly my back pain on my commute basically vanished. Anyone else ever blamed the train hardware when the real issue was just sitting in the same worn spot every day?
