A flat tire on the 405 freeway made me rethink my whole morning routine

I was about halfway to a job site in Irvine when my truck's back right tire blew out. Had to pull over onto that narrow shoulder with semis flying by at 70 miles an hour. The whole ordeal, waiting for the tow and getting a spare on, ate up 90 minutes. Now I leave 30 minutes earlier and actually check my tires every Monday. Anyone else had a commute disaster that forced a big change in their habits?

Used to think checking the car was a waste of time. A dead battery in a grocery store lot changed that. Now I get why @morganm69 checks under the hood on Sundays. That kind of delay messes up your whole day. I keep jumper cables in the trunk now too. It just saves so much trouble later.

My old Civic threw a belt on the 5 south at 6 AM. Now I pop the hood every Sunday before I even make coffee.

It's funny how these small emergencies end up teaching us the best routines.
