Hot take: a 68 year old super in Dallas killed my whole punch list method with one sentence
I was doing a tenant buildout in Dallas and the super walked my punch list with me. He stopped at a crooked outlet cover and said "you keep fixing the same wall twice because you list it before the trade is done." That hit me because I have been chasing my tail on closeouts for 12 years. Now I walk the job once after each trade clears and my list went from 60 items to 14. Anybody got a better order for walking these things?
Man, that one sentence just saved you 12 years of pain and I feel that in my bones. The tail chasing is real, you fix something, another trade comes through and messes it up, then you're back on the same wall wondering why you're even there. Walking after each trade clears makes so much sense it hurts.
