TIL from my DC Comics office visit that fan culture has gone shallow

When I traveled to New York, I made a point to see the old DC Comics office. I mean, the fans there were more focused on getting the perfect photo than talking about the comics, idk. Do you think travel has made comic fandom less about the stories?

Honestly, I wonder if it's less about travel and more about these spots becoming... tourist traps. Like, nobody's talking plot twists because they're too busy lining up the shot with the sign. The story gets lost when the place itself becomes the story, you know?

Read an article saying we're all just collecting backdrops now.

At that DC office, I spent ten minutes trying to get a good pic of the lobby, so maybe I'm part of the problem. I guess the only deep story I was into was my camera roll.
