Stumbled on a coffee fact that blew my mind a little

I was reading this old food science book from the 90s at the library and it mentioned that a coffee tree only produces about one pound of roasted beans per year. I had to look it up again online to be sure. That's a whole tree, all that work, for just a single bag of coffee. It really makes you think about how much plant goes into every cup. Anyone else come across a fact about coffee growing that surprised them?

Anthonyhunt is right about appreciating it more. My uncle tried growing a single bush once and it took three years just to get a handful of beans, it was kind of sad.

Yeah and it gets worse when you think about waste. Anthonyhunt is right about appreciating it, but a ton of those beans get tossed for not being perfect shape or size. So that one pound from a tree is after throwing a bunch out.
