A friend in Denver called my pour-over method 'aggressive' and it actually made sense
I was making coffee for a buddy and he said, 'You're pouring like you're trying to put out a fire, man. Slow down.' I was blasting the grounds with a full kettle stream from the start. He showed me his way, starting with a gentle 30-second bloom with just a little water. I tried it the next morning and the coffee tasted way smoother, less bitter. Anyone else get a simple tip that totally flipped your routine?

Oh man, that's so real. I used to just dump all the water in at once too. Learning to actually bloom the grounds made a huge difference, didn't it? It's crazy how one small change can fix everything.

My first bloom attempt looked like a science fair volcano. I was so proud of the foam, then I tasted it and realized I made battery acid. That thirty second wait is the line between coffee and punishment.

My first "bloom" just sat there like a wet paper bag. I think I invented a new kind of sad.
