The $9 scale I ignored for months fixed my pour over

I was at my kitchen counter last Tuesday, same as every morning, and my V60 just kept stalling out mid-pour. I'd been blaming the grinder or the beans but it happened three days in a row, always around the 200 gram mark. Finally I grabbed the cheap digital scale my wife bought on Amazon, the one I thought was a waste of money, and weighed my usual scoop. Turns out I was using almost 28 grams instead of the 22 I thought, which choked the whole bed. Adjusted to 22 and did a quick 1:15 ratio, the brew drained clean in 2:40 flat. Is there any brewing issue that ain't just a hidden measurement problem, or do I need to start timing my tap water temp too?

Honestly, this is like the number one hidden variable for most people. We all think we can eyeball a scoop or just trust the grinder setting, but beans density changes with roast level and freshness, so the grams can swing way more than you'd think. The scale basically eliminates the guesswork, and it's boring but it fixes so many stalls and sour cups. Tap water temp matters too but mostly if you're way off, like using boiling water on light roasts or lukewarm on dark. Get a cheap instant read thermometer if you want, but honestly the scale is the big one that solves 90% of the frustration. Once you lock in the weight, the timing and taste start making way more sense, and you can actually diagnose what's left.
