Switched from a paper cone to a metal basket on my V60 and the cup got sweeter

The paper filters were soaking up most of the oils and leaving a thin, tea-like brew, but the metal basket let those oils through and the body filled out a lot. Anyone else notice this, or did I just get a bad batch of filters?
