Rant: dropped $85 on an electric burr grinder and it still can't do a French press right

Man that stings, been there. I grabbed a "budget" burr grinder a couple years back thinking it would fix everything and the coarse setting was basically powder and boulders mixed together in the same scoop. You get that muddy sludge at the bottom of the press no matter how slow you pour or how long you wait. The worst part is the fines sneak through the mesh and keep steeping, so it turns bitter by the time you finish the cup. Eighty five bucks is real money too, so it's fair to be mad. Sometimes returning it and just asking for store credit toward something with actual burrs is the move.
