My $30 pour over kettle broke mid bloom and I'm done babying glass gear
The gooseneck on my pour over kettle cracked right at the base last Tuesday, mid bloom on a batch of Ethiopian beans I'd been saving for a slow Saturday. Water went everywhere, my scale shorted out, and I stood there holding a useless glass handle while the grounds sat there soaking unevenly. Everyone says glass kettles give you the best control, but this is the second one I've killed in 14 months, and I'm not gentle with my gear. I dug out an old stainless kettle with a stubby spout and just poured slow from higher up, and honestly the cup came out fine, maybe even better. So who actually switched away from glass and what did you go with?
