Hit 200 pourovers logged in my notebook since March
Started writing down grind size and water temp for every cup back in March, and just hit 200 entries today. Turns out my best cups all landed between 200 and 205 degrees, which I never would have guessed, so what temp do you all settle on for a medium roast?
That notebook habit is a game changer. Kept a log myself for about six months last year, and the numbers told me things I never would have believed. My sweet spot for medium roasts lands right around 202, but I found the same thing you did, the range matters way more than one exact number. Some beans that taste flat at 200 wake up at 205, and others go bitter fast past 203. Having the notes means you can actually spot that stuff instead of guessing every morning.
