Looking back at my first coding setup

I remember saving up about $150 for a big, thick Python book and a paid online course back in 2018. The book was so heavy and the course videos felt slow, like they were made ten years earlier. Honestly, I barely got past the first few chapters before I felt stuck and gave up. A year later, I found all these free interactive websites and YouTube tutorials that explained things way better. That old book is still on my shelf, a reminder of how much easier it is to start now. What was the first thing you bought for learning that you ended up not using?

You saved up a hundred and fifty bucks for a book and a course? That's a lot of money to feel stuck with.

Well the money's already spent, so that's not the point. The real question is whether the book and course can still help you move forward. Feeling stuck is the worst part, not the price tag.

Was that book really a waste though?
