Coding tutorials used to be a luxury

I remember saving up for a single programming book. These days, you can binge-watch entire courses for free on YouTube.

Seriously, the crazy thing is we might be losing the deep focus that came from having one book. You'd wrestle with a single resource until it made sense. Now with endless videos, it's easier to just skip to the next tutorial instead of really grinding through the hard parts.

My buddy Mike had this one giant C++ book from 1998, the cover was falling off. He told me he learned everything from it because it was all he could afford on his student budget. He’d get stuck on a concept for weeks with no one to ask. Now I see his kid pulling up a YouTube video to fix the same error in like two minutes, it’s crazy.

Yeah, @gavin_thomas52 has a point about focus. The old way forced you to figure things out, which sticks better. Now it's too easy to just watch another video and not really learn.
