Old timer told me to stop chasing zero tool deflection on every roughing pass

He said I was wasting 20 minutes per part trying to get .0005 when the finish pass would clean it up anyway. Has anyone else got feedback that went against everything they learned in school?

Gotta disagree a bit here, @richard_sanchez43. Sending roughing passes with zero deflection is overkill, but 20 minutes a part adds up fast if the finish pass can't clean up a heavier cut.

MAN Did the finish pass actually hold the tolerance though?
