Noticed more neighbors using rain barrels this summer
Three years ago I was the only one on my street with a rain barrel for the garden. Last month I counted six new ones during a walk around the block. Has anyone else seen a jump in local water conservation efforts like this?

Started with a cheap plastic barrel from the hardware store to water my tomatoes during dry spells, and it paid for itself that first summer. Stuck with it long enough to realize the overflow hose setup makes a big difference for keeping the system simple. Give it a season or two and you'll probably see most of those new folks stick with it once they see the savings on their water bill.
