I just hit 100 days of biking to work and my car battery died

So I made a goal to bike to my office in Portland to cut down on driving, and I hit 100 days straight yesterday. The funny part is, I went to use my car this morning for a big grocery run and the battery was totally dead from sitting so long. I had to get a jump from my neighbor, who laughed and said my climate action was a little too successful. It really drove home how much I wasn't using it. Has anyone else had their car basically give up on them after switching to biking or walking more?

Congrats on hitting 100 days, that's a huge shift. I had a similar thing happen where my car's tires developed flat spots from sitting unused in the driveway for months. It really shows how these machines are meant to be used regularly, and letting them sit creates its own set of problems. Makes you wonder about the true cost of keeping a car around just for occasional trips.

Yeah, flat spots are a real pain. The hidden costs of an unused car add up fast.

Tell your car it's not a museum piece. Those flat spots are the automotive version of bedsores. Maybe it's time for a little drive.
