Why does nobody talk about sweeping after a rainstorm?
I got called out to a house in Tulsa two weeks ago after a big storm rolled through. The flue had water sitting in the smoke shelf and the creosote had turned into this sticky black paste that my normal brush just smeared around. I spent 90 minutes on a flue that usually takes me 30, and I had to come back the next day with different tools once it dried out a bit. Now I check the weather before every job and I flat out tell customers to reschedule if it rained hard in the past day or two. Half of them act like I'm just trying to move the appointment for no reason. Does anyone else turn down work after rain, or am I being too picky about it?
