Pro tip: check the flashing on those new builds in the Westgate subdivision

I was doing a cleanout on a 2-year-old house over there and the silicone seal around the chimney base was already cracked and pulling away. The homeowner had no idea water was getting in behind the brick. What's the best sealant you guys have found for that specific spot?

It's wild how many new builds have these hidden problems right from the start. You pay all that money and the basic stuff isn't even done right. A good polyurethane sealant seems to hold up better than silicone against the weather changes we get. But doesn't it feel like everything is just slapped together now to meet a deadline? The care for doing a job right the first time is totally gone.
