That moment I realized I'd been winding yo-yos backward for 30 years

I was showing my nephew how to do 'walk the dog' at the park last weekend, and some kid maybe 10 years old comes up and says my spin was totally off, then he flipped my yo-yo around and suddenly it actually slept right - has anyone else had a toy moment where you felt like you'd been lied to your whole childhood?

Wait, is that actually a thing? Cause I spent my ENTIRE childhood thinking I just sucked at yo-yos and never got the appeal. I remember my brother showing me how to do it and I could never get it to sleep right, it would just bounce back up and smack my hand. So I gave up and figured it was a waste of time. Reading this makes me wonder if I was messing it up the whole time too. I might have to go buy a cheap one and try it the way that kid showed you.
