That 12 foot trampoline at my cousin's house in Phoenix almost killed me
Went to a family reunion last summer. Cousin had one of those old metal spring trampolines from 2003. No net. No pads. Did a dumb flip and came down on the edge. Hurt my back for 3 weeks. Found the exact model on eBay for $40 and I can't believe people still buy these things. Anyone else have a close call on old playground junk?

That old metal spring trampoline sounds like a nightmare. My neighbor had one and I hit my head on the frame after a bad bounce. I put down some thick foam gym mats around the edge and it helped a ton. Also started doing only simple jumps, no flips, on the cheap ones. If you can, get one with a net and padded springs, those make a huge difference.

Totally agree @kai657, those old metal ones are like a death trap waiting to happen. I had a similar scare with one at a friend's house where the springs were all rusty and the net was ripped. We ended up putting those puzzle mat tiles under it too, but we also taped pool noodles around the metal frame for extra padding. Seriously, just doing basic bounces and keeping it low key is the way to go on those cheap ones, no point in trying to show off.
