Dug up my old Bionicle sets, half the joints were cracked

Found the bin in my parents' garage closet in Cincinnati last month and the Toa Nuva gear pieces just crumbled in my hands after 15 years. I tried to rebuild my old Muaka with super glue but those sockets are beyond saving, anyone else had their late 90s sets turn to dust?

Plastic from that era just wasn't made to last. VHS tapes, those old Tupperware lids, even some car dashboards from the 90s all get brittle and flaky after enough years. The Bionicle joints are especially bad though because they're so thin and stressed all the time. Super glue only works if the pieces are still intact, once they crack through you're just fighting physics. Same thing happened to my old Star Wars figures, the arms and legs snapped off at the hip sockets. Seems like everything from back then is on a timer, we just didn't know it when we were kids.
