The self-checkout beep changed pitch and nobody's talking about it

I stood in line at the Kroger on Main Street yesterday and every single scanner sounded a half-tone higher than the ones from like 2019. Is it just me, or did they tune these things to make you feel rushed, has anyone else noticed the new beep?

The one over by the dairy section at my local Meijer beeps so fast now it sounds like an angry cricket with an anxiety disorder. I spent a solid two minutes last week trying to scan a bag of oranges and the machine just kept yelling at me, higher and higher pitch, like it was personally offended I didn't bring my own bag. Honestly though, I'm the kind of person who still can't figure out how to weigh produce without hitting the "help" button, so maybe they tuned it for people who actually know what they're doing. But yeah, I noticed, and it makes me feel like I'm failing a music test every time I check out.
