PSA: I figured out a way to make the self-checkout line move faster
I was stuck behind a guy at the Kroger in Madison who was scanning a huge pile of stuff one item at a time. I remembered reading online about grouping items by weight. Next time, I put all my produce on the scale together, then all my boxed stuff. It cut my scanning time in half, easy. Has anyone else found a trick that actually speeds things up?

My local Target has those handheld scanners you can use while you shop. I grab one, scan and bag everything as I go down the aisles. By the time I get to the checkout, I just pay and leave. It feels like cheating the system. The key is keeping the barcodes facing up in your cart so you don't have to dig for them later.

My Target has those too... I always keep a couple reusable bags in my cart and pack things by category as I scan. Makes unloading at home way easier. The only time I got stopped was when I bought a bunch of those big storage bins, they just wanted to check the cart against my scanned list.
