Coupon app glitch cost me 20 minutes at the Kroger self-checkout

I was trying to use a digital coupon for $1.50 off chicken thighs and the scanner just wouldn't take it. The machine kept spitting out that red error light while the guy behind me sighed louder with each attempt. After three call-ins and a manager named Darla restarting the whole register, it finally worked, but my ice cream was basically soup by the time I paid. Has anyone else had those app coupons just vanish from their account mid-checkout, or is that just my luck?
