Can we talk about the guy who tried to write a check at the grocery store on a Tuesday afternoon

I was stuck behind him at the Food City on Maple for a solid 12 minutes. He had to ask the cashier for a pen, then he couldn't remember the date, and then he started filling out the check register in slow motion. I just stood there staring at the tabloids, wondering if anyone actually buys those. The whole time I was mentally adding up how much time I'd lose on my way to the next job site. Has anyone else had a simple errand derailed by something like this recently?

Okay but "derailed" feels like a strong word for a 12 minute wait. I get being in a hurry, but sometimes people just move slow, especially older folks who still use checks. I've been stuck behind someone counting exact change before and yeah it's annoying, but it's not the end of the world. You just get a weirdly long look at the gum and candy bars. Was your next job site really going to fall apart because you got to the grocery store a little late?

Was your next job site really going to fall apart" is a great point. My whole day just has a Domino Effect when one thing gets late. That 12 minutes means I hit every red light, the store is out of the one thing I need, and my lunch is now cold fries from a drive thru. It's not about the site falling apart, it's about my plan turning into a sad joke.
