Why does nobody talk about the $4 banh mi on Bellaire in Houston?
Found a spot on Bellaire Blvd two months ago selling banh mi for $4 flat, and it beats the $9 ones downtown. But my buddy Marcus says a $7 spot near Midtown is worth it because the pate is better and the bread is fresher. Are we paying for quality or just for the zip code? Where do you draw the line on cheap eats?
Stop pretending price and quality do not go together, because Marcus is right. Better pate and bread baked that morning cost the shop more, and they pass that to you, that is how food works. Four bucks is great if you just want cheap protein in a roll, but you are fooling yourself if you think it is the same thing.
