Showerthought: the 'small' soda at my local spot is 32oz and here's why that matters for your wallet
I was at this taco window on 5th street last Tuesday and ordered a small drink with my $2.75 bean and cheese burrito. The cup they handed me was 32oz. I asked the guy if that was a mistake and he shrugged and said thats just what small means here. I pulled out my phone and did the math while waiting for my food. At $1.50 for that 32oz cup, that is less than 5 cents an ounce. The gas station two blocks over charges $2.29 for a 20oz soda, which is over 11 cents an ounce. So this cheap taco spot is somehow the best drink deal in the whole neighborhood and nobody talks about it. I have been hitting this place for lunch 3 days a week now and my drink budget went from $14 a week to under $5. Has anyone else found a spot where the side item or drink is secretly a way better deal than the main food?
