Pro tip: I finally stopped fighting the grain after 12 years of doing it backwards

So I had this job last Thursday, big living room in a split level. I'm fighting with a seam that just would not lay flat, and my helper just looks at me and says 'you know the arrows point toward the light, right?' I had been installing the padding with the grain running the wrong way for years. Felt like a total idiot lmao. Anybody else have a moment where you found out you were doing something basic wrong the whole time?

Happened to me last year with seam sealer. I'd been putting it on like caulk for years. A guy at supply house showed me the right way. Felt like a clown.

Wait are the arrows supposed to point toward the window or away from it?
